All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan's largest airline, is set to begin operations at Stockholm Arlanda Airport - with a new direct route to Tokyo Haneda Airport. The inaugural flight in pencilled in for later this year.
The establishment of this service underscores ANA's commitment to the Swedish aviation market, providing a direct and efficient connection between Sweden and Japan. This new link is expected to significantly enhance connectivity not only to Japan but also to broader regions in Asia and the South Pacific, leveraging ANA's extensive network.
Japan stands as Sweden's second-largest trading partner in Asia. The economic ties between the two countries are robust, with nearly 150 Swedish enterprises, ranging from large corporations to startups, operating in Japan, the world's third-largest economy. Conversely, Sweden is a significant Nordic export market for Japan, hosting around 180 Japanese companies.
The inauguration of the direct service by ANA is anticipated to significantly benefit the hospitality sector and enhance the burgeoning business exchanges between Japan and Sweden. This new route will also facilitate the transportation of important cargo, including technological goods, ensuring quicker and more efficient delivery times.
ANA's history dates back to 1952, starting with just two helicopters and evolving into Japan's largest airline. Since joining the Star Alliance in 1999, ANA has forged joint ventures with several major airlines, including United Airlines, Lufthansa German Airlines, Swiss International Airlines, and Austrian Airlines, enhancing its global reach.
