It's summer and British Airways is offering its passengers a variety of holiday treats. These include ice-cream and bubbles before takeoff in World Traveller Plus, seasonally themed menus, and newly introduced inflight entertainment.
Starting this week, the airline will provide free ice cream on daytime flights departing from London Heathrow and London Gatwick before 1700 hrs (UK time). The ice cream is supplied by fellow British brand, Jude's, and passengers can enjoy a range of flavours, including vanilla, strawberries and cream, chocolate, and salted caramel.
These delicacies, which are made less than 60 miles from Heathrow in Hampshire, will be available for passengers travelling in World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy).
The airline is also re-introducing sparkling wine to its World Traveller Plus cabin from mid-July, as part of its pre-takeoff drink offering.
Meanwhile, passengers in Club World (Business Class) can enjoy a glass of British wine - Balfour Rosé de Noirs - made exclusively from red grapes. This exclusive British Airways blend is a lighter rosé English Sparkling wine, perfect for summer travels.
For the first time, a rosé blend is being introduced to First Class.
Passengers can now enjoy Rock Angel, an older sibling of Whispering Angel, offering a more structured and oaky flavour. Château d’Esclans’ creations are also available on short-haul flights through the airline’s newly rebranded High Life Café (formerly Speedbird Café).
A range of summer-inspired menus is being introduced across the cabins until September.
The First Class menu includes light dishes such as a classic prawn cocktail, grilled Atlantic halibut, and a British summer dessert, berry bread and butter pudding.
World Traveller Plus passengers can enjoy a fresh calamarata pasta followed by a raspberry panna cotta.
As part of the summer entertainment, British Airways has also introduced a 'Summer Fun' category on its inflight entertainment channel. This includes blockbuster movies for families and children to enjoy. A new ‘Women in Sport’ movie category has also been added, featuring a range of sports highlights, in time for the football summer season.
British Airways Business Class
British Airways brands its Business Class as Club Europe/Club World offering superior levels of comfort and service. Passengers enjoy dedicated check-in desks, fast-track security and priority boarding. Stylish and spacious departure lounges provide relaxing space with complimentary food, quality wines and beverages and business facilities.
Club World seats offer plenty of space and privacy. Passengers enjoy fully flat beds, stylish amenities and bedding from The White Company, delicious global cuisine using fresh, local ingredients, quality wines, spirits, beverages and snacks, and an in-flight entertainment screen with noise-cancelling headphones.
On selected flights, Club World cabins offer Club Suites providing passengers enhanced privacy, direct aisle access, a larger fully flat bed, digital seat functionality, high-speed Wi-Fi and a large high-definition entertainment screen with the latest releases.
