From this week, Taiwan-based China Airlines will be serving award-winning Japanese cuisine to its Premium Business/Business Class passengers on all its routes to/from Japan. Not only will passengers enjoy this new menu but they will also use brand new tableware to complement the cuisine.
China Airlines has partnered with Tokyo-based banquet restaurant - TOUTOUAN to create new menus which will be enjoyed by passengers flying Premium Business and Business Class on China Airlines’ flagship Japan routes, including Taipei (Taoyuan) to Tokyo (Narita), Osaka Fukuoka and Nagoya, Taipei (Songshan) to Tokyo (Haneda), as well as Kaohsiung to Tokyo (Narita) and Osaka.
The first offering will be the “Imperial Cuisine of Early Spring” with Teriyayki Wagyu Beef as the main dish. Premium Japanese Wagyu Beef is served with wasabi and teriyaki sauce alongside Hokkaido Yumepirika rice famed for its fragrance and sweet taste. The menu will change to reflect main dishes made with seasonal ingredients. All dishes use ingredients that supports local Japanese farmers.
The airline has been working with JIA to bring new co-branded Japanese tableware to complement the new menus. The tableware features cherry blossoms in spring, fireworks in summer, red leaves in autumn and fun in the snows of winter. The new bowls incorporate motifs based on the four seasons of Japan and the theme, “experience the beauty of all seasons through cherry blossoms, fireworks, red leaves, and snow.”
Last December, China Airlines and Michelin-starred restaurant Yang Ming Spring have partnered to bring clean and green plant-based cuisine to the airline’s in-flight catering service.
The two-time Michelin Green Star restaurant — in 2021 and 2022 — has developed the new menus alongside China Pacific Catering Services and Kaohsiung Airport Catering Services of the CAL Group and brings Michelin Green Star cuisine to the skies for the first time.
