Emirates expands Premium Economy service

Emirates is celebrating its first anniversary since the launch of its Premium Economy cabin. Since August 2022, 160,000 passengers have flown to 11 cities in Emirates Premium Economy and now the Dubai-based airline is set to expand to 13 cities by year's end as more aircraft receive updated cabins.

Presently, Emirates operates flights with the new Premium Economy cabins to cities including London Heathrow, Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Christchurch, Singapore, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Houston, San Francisco, and Dubai. From 29th October, the airline will extend Premium Economy services to flights from and to Mumbai and Bengaluru - with more cities to be announced.

Emirates has 20 aircraft equipped with Premium Economy cabins, 14 of which were refurbished over the last nine months.

Since August 2022, the airline has carried out nearly 4,500 flights with Premium Economy, covering over 36 million kilometers globally. More than 192,000 meals, featuring regionally inspired servings were provided to passengers. The menu, which changes monthly, aims to offer a variety of flavours and dishes to satisfy well-travelled customers.

Over 126,000 pieces of chocolates were offered to conclude meals for Premium Economy customers. Additionally, Emirates served 6,700 kilograms of mixed nuts and 8,650 liters of fresh lemon and mint juices, complimentary to Premium Economy passengers. The extensive beverage selection includes an Emirates-exclusive Australian sparkling wine, Chandon Vintage Brut 2016, along with a unique choice of a white and red wine.

In May, the airline teamed up with Academy Award-winning actor and philanthropist Penelope Cruz for a global campaign, featuring her enjoying the spacious seats of Premium Economy.

The integration of Premium Economy into its services is a critical part of Emirates' multi-billion-dollar retrofit program, aimed at upgrading the interiors of 67 Emirates A380 cabins and 53 Boeing 777 cabins. Upon completion, the program will equip more than 4,000 seats with Premium Economy, along with over 700 First Class suites and 5,000 refurbished Business Class seats.
