Emirates is starting an innovative meal preordering system, giving customers the ability to select their hot main course between 14 days and 24 hours prior to their flight.
The meal preordering initiative will be rolled out on 25th July for Business Class on all flights from Dubai to London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and London Stansted.
It will be incorporated into the existing AI-powered customer preference tracking and cabin crew reporting systems to facilitate better menu planning and perfect food stocking for the high-end 'restaurant in the sky' inflight dining experience. The new service not only guarantees passengers get their meal of choice every time, but also aids in minimising food wastage.
Passengers will have the option to peruse the inflight menu on Emirates.com or the Emirates app up to 14 days prior to their flight and choose from a variety of regionally inspired dishes made with locally sourced ingredients. Special meal preordering is also available for those who need it.
Cabin crew will use a bespoke app to check the meal selection and serve passengers their chosen hot meal. Emirates intends to extend the meal preordering system to additional routes and classes in the near future, and is keeping a close eye on customer feedback from the initial implementation phase.
