Japan Airlines enhances premium travel with new amenity kits and menus

Japan Airlines is making efforts to upgrade the flying experience for its business and first-class passengers with a number of improvements, including new amenity kits and new onboard menus from Michelin-starred chefs.

From the end of February, passengers in international First Class and long-haul Business Class on flights departing and arriving in Japan, as well as in Business Class on flights departing from Japan, will be given amenity kits designed by ETRO, an Italian luxury brand.

The Business Class amenity kit that will be available on flights to Japan was designed by Tatsumura Textile, a famous textile manufacturer in Kyoto. The outer surface of this amenity kit is made with an original fabric woven with a traditional Kikko pattern and ornamented with an elegant Setsugekka textile design with JAL’s crane motif.

The colour of the fabric will change every three months to depict the four seasons in Japan (Spring – Blue / Summer – Red / Autumn – White / Winter – Black).

Alongside these new kits, the airline has also announced the introduction of a new Japanese menu on its international first class flights. Devised by two chefs with three Michelin stars each to their name, JAL’s Japanese menus will be available on select routes from March 1.

The two chefs that have worked with JAL on the new menus are Chef Hideki Ishikawa, owner-chef of kaiseki restaurant ISHIKAWA in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, and Chef Kouji Koizumi, head chef of Ishikawa’s sister restaurant, KOHAKU, which serves Japanese cuisine with a twist.
