Korean Air has released an eco-friendly cosmetic pouch made from retired cabin life vests. These limited edition upcycled pouches have been created in collaboration with the Korean beauty brand "107" - which known for its natural skincare products and environmentally friendly approach to beauty.
The pouches are not only environmentally conscious but practical too. They contain six different travel-sized skincare essentials, including a facial cleanser, face mist, moisturising cream, soap, shampoo, and mask pack.
Korean Air has taken steps to ensure the manufacturing processes of these pouches have a minimal impact on the environment. They were produced using solar power in an eco-friendly factory, and biodegradable detergents were used to wash the “retired” life vests.
Only 4,000 of these upcycled cosmetic pouches are available for purchase at Korean Air's e-Skyshop . The pouch and skincare set cost around Euros 89 and all profits will be donated to a global environmental organisation.
Korean Air has a history of upcycling projects, including producing name tags from scraps of retired aircraft and donating hot water bottle covers made from inflight blankets to those in need.
