Korean Air has revealed the interior cabins of its next-generation narrow-body Airbus A321neo aircraft with a customised Collins Aerospace Diamond lie-flat seat in Business Class - branded by the airline as Prestige Class.
The first of the A321neos will commence commercial service this month on short-haul routes, including Southeast Asia, China and Japan, and will be the first narrow-body aircraft in Korean’s fleet equipped with premium 180-degree lie-flat seats.
There will be 8 Business Class seats in a 2-2 single-aisle configuration. The new Airbus Airspace cabin — the first among Asian airlines — will enhance passenger comfort with overhead luggage bins around 40 per cent more spacious than the predecessor, customisable cabin lighting and lavatories equipped with enhanced lighting and antibacterial protection. The window shades also provide a wider view.
The Business Class seats will feature a sleek blend of dark grey and gold fabric, advanced 17.3-inch (44 centimetres) in-flight entertainment systems and wireless smartphone charging. Internet access will also be available to purchase from the first half of 2023.
Korean Air will add 30 Airbus A321neo aircraft to its fleet by 2027, with each aircraft offering around 25 per cent fuel improvement per seat over the previous generation aircraft, significantly reducing operating costs and carbon emissions.
Korean Air is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance, including Air France and KLM, and has a joint venture partnership with Delta Air Lines, connecting approximately 80 destinations in Asia and 290 in the Americas.
