Stockholm Arlanda Airport is transforming its Terminal 5 building with a large-scale state-of-the-art security checkpoint and a new Marketplace opening in phased completions – beginning in summer 2023.
The largest international airport in Sweden and one of the leading Nordic airports – serving around 2 million passengers monthly – Arlanda is the Swedish hub for Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), Finnair and Norwegian, among others.
The new Marketplace will be Arlanda's most significant commercial investment, with 11,000 square metres of retail and commercial space, offering customers varied shopping opportunities and twenty food and drink outlets.
The first phase of the Marketplace will include a 2,000 square metre Duty Free area and a souvenir, gift and food concept featuring Nordic, Swedish and other local goods. Other new openings include a pharmacy, a book shop and an airport-based electronics retailer, InMotion.
Phase 2 – due for completion in late 2023 – will see Swedish fashion brands Gant and J. Lindeberg opening outlets, other fashion and outdoor leisure brands and a children's toy outlet. The final phase of the Marketplace development is due to complete at the end of 2024 or early 2025, with additional retail outlets still to be announced.
The new and improved security checkpoint – due to open in the summer of 2023 – comes following the linking of Terminals 4 and 5 for domestic and international flights, with a walkway travellator connecting the two terminals.
