SWISS has announced that its new Airbus A350-900s will accommodate 242 passengers - three in First Class, 45 in Business Class, 38 in Premium Economy Class, and 156 in Economy Class.
At 38 seats, the Premium Economy Class on the Airbus A350-900 will outsize those on existing SWISS long-haul jets. This enlargement signals SWISS's response to increasing consumer demand for premium air travel options, particularly among leisure travellers.
"Beginning in 2025, our meticulously planned cabin design will offer our passengers an entirely new and unparalleled flight experience," said SWISS Chief Commercial Officer Tamur Goudarzi Pour. "We will continue to be the only leading global airline to feature First Class cabins across all long-haul aircraft. Additionally, we're expanding our already popular Premium Economy Class, thus cementing our position as Europe’s premier premium airline."
SWISS is scheduled to welcome five Airbus A350-900s into its fleet from 2025. These state-of-the-art twinjets are set to phase out the airline’s remaining four Airbus A340-300s. The A350-900 is lauded as the most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient aircraft in its long-haul category. It generates 25% less carbon dioxide than its predecessor and operates at less than half the noise level. Moreover, the aircraft averages fuel consumption rates of approximately 2.5 litres per 100 kilometres per passenger.
