United Airlines and Emirates have announced a partnership that will see both airlines cooperating more closely. The two airlines will interline from November 2022 – allowing customers to book Emirates and United flights on a single ticket connecting more than 200 destinations throughout the United States via United’s hubs in Chicago, Houston and San Francisco.
Emirates will also fly to eight other US destinations, offering seamless connections in Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orlando, Seattle and Washington DC. Benefits beyond extended destinations include more streamlined check-in and baggage processes.
From March 2023, Chicago-based United will launch a daily nonstop Newark to Dubai flight, with single-ticket access to more than a hundred Emirates and Flydubai destinations in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The airlines plan an even closer level of cooperation with a future codeshare - which requires regulatory approval.
Eligible United customers with premium tickets connecting to and from the new Dubai route will receive reciprocal lounge access. Emirates Skywards members can earn and redeem miles on United-operated flights, and United MileagePlus members can earn and redeem miles on the Newark to Dubai route and onward connections with Emirates and Flydubai.
Emirates has been in partnership with JetBlue since 2012 for flights within the United States, though this collaboration will end on October 30th with the new alignment with United Airlines. However, JetBlue has deepened its codeshare agreement with Qatar Airways - ensuring that it still has a partner in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australasia.
