United Airlines is now offering rosé wine to its Polaris - Business Class - passengers. Since 2010, there has been a huge boom in the consumption of rosé and United has teamed up with a major French house to serve Whispering Angel to its passengers.
While the Château d’Esclans estate in Provence does not produce the quality of rosé served in the vast majority of premium airline cabins - Whispering Angels is hugely popular around the world and is a favourite of singer Adele.
“Whispering Angel was instrumental in sparking the rosé revolution and has become synonymous with a glamorous lifestyle, so being able to share this exceptional wine with those flying United Polaris as they embark on their travels is exciting,” Château d’Esclans owner Sacha Lichine. “We’re proud to be able to reach new consumers and offer them a taste of the magic of Provence.”
United is not renowned for its great wine selection - it currently offers Champagne Duval Leroy or Beaumont des Crayere inflight. United serves just under half-a-million glasses of wine to its Polaris passengers every month.
Recently United announced the return of its legendary ice cream sundae cart.
