A look at Icelandair’s Northern Lights aircraft "Hekla Aurora"

To celebrate the unique, natural light show of the Aurora Borealis, often closely associated with Iceland, Icelandic airline Icelandair have adorned one of its aircraft with a special Aurora Borealis design. The idea was initially to alert travellers between Europe and North America of the opportunity to make a stopover in Iceland, but now the aircraft itself has become something of an attraction. It is not just the exterior that is special, the inside of the aircraft also offers quite an experience with a beautiful one-of-a-kind mood lighting that recreates the Northern Lights for passengers in the cabin. The aircraft, named Hekla Aurora, serves all Icelandair destinations in Europe and North America. Icelandair’s Boeing 757, Hekla Aurora The maiden flight of Hekla Aurora took place in February in connection with Reykjavík’s Winter Lights Festival. The aircraft flew over central Reykjavik to mark the occasion.
