Germany’s second largest airline will, from May 2016, add four new long-haul destinations to its transatlantic network. From its hub in Dusseldorf, Air Berlin will launch flights to Boston, Dallas Fort Worth and San Francisco in the US, as well as Havana in Cuba. The new routes will compliment current services from Dusseldorf to New York (JFK) and Los Angeles.
All new routes will be served by A330-200 aircraft. From May 6, four-times weekly flights from Dusseldorf to
Dallas Fort Worth
will take off on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Flight AB7010 will depart Dusseldorf at 09.15 and land in Dallas at 12.50. In the opposite direction, flight AB7011 will leave Dallas at 14.40 and arrive in Dusseldorf at 07.05 the following day. From May 7, flights to
Boston
will take off on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. From June 12, flights will also depart on Sunday. Flight AB7472 will depart Dusseldorf at 13.50, arriving in Boston at 15.30. The return, AB7473, will leave from Boston at 17.50, landing in Dusseldorf at 06.45 the day after. From May 6, flights to
San Francisco
will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. From June 9, flights will also operate on Mondays and Thursdays. Flight AB7392 will depart from Dusseldorf at 13.20, arriving in San Francisco at 15.55. In the opposite direction, flight AB7393 will take off from San Francisco at 17.55, landing in Dusseldorf at 13.35 the following day. The
Havana
route will launch on May 28, with a twice-weekly service (subject to government approval). Flight AB7024 will depart from Dusseldorf on Thursdays and Saturdays at 09.15, arriving in Havana at 13.55. The return, flight AB7025, will take off from Havana at 15.55, landing in Dusseldorf at 07.20 the next day. "Optimising our network has been a central component of the realignment at airberlin. We are thereby focusing on our hubs in Berlin and Dusseldorf. Now by expanding our long-haul network, we are developing this important segment in order to make our offer even more attractive to business passengers and tourists", said Stefan Pichler, Air Berlin CEO. Services from Dusseldorf to Los Angeles and New York (JFK) will also increase frequency, with one additional flight per week to both destinations - meaning Dusseldorf- New York will increase to twice-daily, while LA will be served daily.
