Air Berlin offers ‘XL seats’ with extra leg room

Airberlin, Germany's second largest airline, is now offering ‘XL seats’ in Economy Class on its entire long-haul fleet (type A330). A total of five rows per aircraft have been fitted with the new XL seats, which provide 5cm of extra leg room. Air Berlin says the new concept aims to “prevent jet legs”.

Passengers travelling for six hours or more can take advantage of the XL seats, which are located in the front rows of the cabin. Air Berlin hope the extra space will mean expectant mothers, those travelling with small children, and passengers with physical disabilities are able to board and disembark quicker and easier. Passengers can book their extra 15cm of leg room on flights from 1st December, 2015, on Air Berlin’s website or via a travel agent for a price of 79.99 euros per flight. XL seats are included for passengers with a FlyFlex fare.

We're delighted to now offer our passengers on long-haul flights even more comfort, thus further improving our Economy Class for our customers." Members of Air berlin’s ‘topbonus’ frequent flyer program can use their accumulated award miles to reserve an XL seat during the launch campaign (which runs until 31.12.2015) for 10,000 miles per flight. Topbonus Gold and Platinum members have an XL seat included in their ticket.
