Air France is currently testing virtual reality headsets on board selected flights from its hub at Charles de Gaulle.

The trial run of this new

immersive entertainment system has been taking place since August 1st, with the technology allowing passengers to enjoy 3D and 2D films or TV series in their own (virtual) private movie theatre in isolation from the rest of the cabin.

The innovative technology, which is the result of a partnership with San Francisco-based

startup SkyLights, has been tested on board Paris-Charles de Gaulle – St. Martin and St. Martin – Paris-Charles de Gaulle flights.

Those travelling in Business class on board the A340 operating this route can, therefore, try this exciting new form of in-flight entertainment for themselves.

In a press release, Air France said that this trial run will be a valuable learning experience for the company and, at the end of the test period, the new system could be rolled out on other flights in the months ahead.
