AirPortr introduced at London Heathrow

Following in the footsteps of Gatwick and London City airports, Heathrow has now introduced AirPortr, an on-demand baggage delivery service.

AirPortr is a service from London based start-up Portr that delivers passenger’s bags to either a chosen address within London and the surrounding area or to the airport - providing same-day, bag-free travel for Heathrow’s passengers. AirPortr concierges will initially be available at Terminals 3 and 5, with a rollout to Terminals 2 and 4 planned for early 2016. AirPortr, which can be booked in advance or on the day of travel, allows bags to be picked up at the airport by an ‘AirPortr’, before being securely transported to a London destination, e.g. the office, hotel or home address. Bags can also be collected from any London location and delivered to the airport at a time prescribed by the customer. AirPortr aims to transform customer’s journey to and from Heathrow by providing “lighter, quicker and stress free travel.” The service is priced as follows: £15 to/from Heathrow Airport to the local area, £25 to/from Heathrow to Central London, and £35 to/from Heathrow to Outer London. Each additional bag costs £5 and there are no size or weight restrictions. Therefore, two bags, regardless of size or weight, costs £30 to be delivered between the airport and Central London. “Our vision has always been to transform the way we travel here in London. Today’s announcement marks a major milestone and a realisation of that vision to deliver ‘bag free’ travel. We are delighted to now be an official partner of Heathrow, the UK’s hub airport, being a fundamental pillar of our strategy, connecting our city with global business and tourism,” said Randel Darby, AirPortr CEO. “It has taken several years for the technology and secure processes to be put in place in order to realise what is a very complex service while ensuring a reliable and seamless customer experience. We now look forward to bringing this benefit to Heathrow’s many millions of passengers in time for their Christmas travels, and into 2016 as we grow and help make journeys better.”
