BA’s new route to Costa Rica

On May 4, 2016, British Airways will launch a new route from London Gatwick to San Jose’s Santamaria International airport.

The direct flights will initially depart twice per week, with plans to add a third weekly flight for the winter 2016/17 season. A Boeing 777 aircraft will be deployed on the route. It will consist of 48 seats in Club World, 24 in World Traveller Plus and 203 in World Traveller economy.

Costa Rica Flights for the summer 2016 season will depart on Wednesday and Saturday, taking off from Gatwick at 11.00 and 11.55 and landing in San Jose at 14.50 and 15.45. During the winter 2016/17 season, flights will depart on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Departures on Tuesday and Saturday will depart at 10.15, arriving in San Jose at 15.35. Flights on Thursday will take off from Gatwick at 11.25, arriving in Costa Rica at 16.45. Costa Rica, which is home to 5% of the worlds bio-diverstity, features stunning volcanic landscapes, rain forests and glorious beaches, hence why the Central American country is becoming increasingly popular with British tourists. Return economy fares will start at £687, premium economy from £1,100 and club World from £2,532.
