The Belmond Royal Scotsman challenges hotels with spa onboard luxury train

Indulgent spas are usually features of stays at high-end hotels, not on overnight trains. But the Belmond Royal Scotsman is no ordinary train.

Belmond has teamed up with British wellness brand Bamford to amp up the luxury aboard the Royal Scotsman with an onboard spa.

From 17th April 2017, the luxury train - which transports passengers through Scotland’s devastatingly beautiful highlands and parts of Great Britain - will comprise a slick new spa carriage, adding to its already supreme levels of comfort.

The new Bamford Haybarn Spa offers bespoke Bamford treatments for passengers travelling on overnight rail journeys. Established in 2006, Bamford uses only organic ingredients certified by the Soil Association to formulate its botanical skincare collections and holistic treatments.

The spa itself is made using sustainable wood from Scotland and the

. The entire carriage features two treatment rooms, each with large picture windows so guests can gaze out at the endearing Scottish countryside as they receive their pampering.

A number of individually crafted wellbeing treatments that are “devoted to connecting the mind, body and soul with the natural world” will be available to passengers on board. Other treatments include facials and body massage, as well as manicures and pedicures using eco- natural Kure Bazaar nail polishes.

A signature treatment, the Bamford Bespoke Facial is a 55-minute ritual that aims to restore, rejuvenate and repair the skin. The treatment features facial reflexology, lymphatic drainage, stimulating lifting and ancient yogic breathing. It is finished with a deep tissue back massage focusing on Shiatsu pressure points with hot stones to release tension and promote deep relaxation.

The exquisitely appointed Belmond Royal Scotsman, a ‘country house on wheels’, offers a number of itineraries from day-trips to seven-nights, including a 7-day Grand Tour of Britain that scales the length and breadth of this glorious island.

Passengers board in Edinburgh, enjoy 24-hour steward service; three full meals a day including a full Scottish breakfast, three-course lunch, and four-course dinner with cheeseboard, coffee, tea and petits fours; outings to a number of historic and cultural attractions including a visit to Bath and a guided tour of Roman baths; and the ever-changing scenery of sweeping glens, towering peaks and mirror-calm lochs through your window.

One more thing; the Belmond Royal Scotsman stocks a wide choice of Scottish whiskies from the bar. A perfect after-spa refreshment.
