British Airways launches route to Miami

The inaugural flight, BA209, touched down at Miami International Airport on Sunday, and departed on the return leg later in the evening with flight number BA208.

First class on BA's A380 This new superjumbo service complements BA’s existing daily Boeing 747 service between Miami and London, meaning BA now fly twice-daily to Miami - the first departure will continue with the Boeing 747 aircraft, while the second departure will now see the Airbus A380 deployed. The A380 is the largest aircraft in British Airways´ fleet and offers two decks that can accommodate up to 469 customers across four cabins. The aircraft houses 14 First suites, 97 Club World (business class) seats, 55 World Traveller Plus (premium economy) seats, and 303 World Traveller (economy) seats.

, said: “We have been flying between Miami and London for more than 40 years and this week we are reinforcing our commitment by introducing an incredible new aircraft onto the route.”

BA's A380 British Airways is also introducing a pair of specialty cocktails to celebrate the launch of the A380 service. A spokesman for BA said, “the limited edition cocktails highlight the coming together of British and South Beach cultures.” ‘The Aviator’ and ‘London Calling’ were developed exclusively for British Airways by Gui Jaroschy of The Broken Shaker in Miami. Both cocktails are a twist on the classic gin and tonic, gin being one of the most requested spirits on British Airways flights, and are available next month on board the Miami A380 flight and at The Broken Shaker, located in Miami Beach.
