The Carlton Tower Jumeriah is set to reopen in London

Once the tallest hotel in London, The Carlton Tower Jumeriah is just weeks away from its grand reopening.

Following a £100 million “all-compassing” renovation, this Knightsbridge luxury hotel will feature 186 rooms and suites, a reduction in the number it used to offer. Jumeriah, in its wisdom, has upped the number of signature and junior suites in the portfolio. The rooms are larger and therefore more attractive to extended families.

Due to its proximity to Sloane Square, Harrods, Harvey Nichols and the rest of central Knightsbridge, the Carlton Tower has been a favourite among affluent visitors to London for decades. It was built in 1961, and in the 80s and 90s was managed by Hyatt. The property is now owned and managed by the Emirati hospitality giant Jumeriah and is the European flagship for the group.

The Peak Fitness Club & Spa has undergone a stunning remodelling. Of course, its 20-metre stainless steel swimming pool – complete with glass ceiling and poolside cabanas – is still very much the focus for the health centre but a new Talise Spa has been introduced offering every beauty treatment available. While the pool is on the second floor, the Peak is situated at the top of the Tower and workouts are made less strenuous as you take in the superb views over London.

The biggest change to the hotel is to the rooms & suites. Utilising the skills of Studio 1508, which also worked on The Lanesborough Hotel, they have all been redesigned and where “heritage meets contemporary luxury”.

While many of the suites boast balconies with spectacular views over London, guests of the hotel now have access to the private Cadogan Square garden and use of its tennis courts.

The botanical garden is famous for its wide & varied species of flora and as a nod to this fame, the hotel

lobby is now resplendent with a bespoke chandelier, incorporating an abstract interpretation of a chrysanthemum.
