After 18 months of extensive renovations, it was finally time for the re-opening of Cathay Pacific's first class lounge, The Pier, in Hong Kong. The lounge is, just as before, located in the northwestern part of the terminal near gate 63. The lounge has been designed by the design agency Studioilse, overseen by Ilse Crawford, the same agency that, among other things, designed Cathay Pacific's new lounges in Bangkok and Manila. The aim of the interior is to reflect a traditional home environment, with the same type of furniture, fabrics and comforts one finds at their own home. The lounge is large, with 2061 square metres that can accommodate 231 guests. A unique aspect of the lounge is ‘The Retreat’, which consists of eight private rest rooms each with a bed, reading lamp and mirror. ‘The Retreat’ also offers a number of shower rooms. Another novelty is the free foot massages now being offered in the lounge, as well as the opportunity to have a neck and back massage. If you wish to have something to eat something in the lounge, ‘The Dining Room’, the lounge's à la carte restaurant with seating for 100 guests, is the place to go. It offers several dishes made to order from an à la carte menu. If you desire something simpler, ‘The Pantry’ has snacks that vary during the day available for self-service. There is also a staffed bar with a wide selection of wines and cocktails. Additional facilities include; ‘The Library’, where you can read or relax, and ‘The Bureau’, an office environment where you can work or use any of the six iMac computers. The lounge also represents a premiere for Cathay Pacific's own scent, which you will encounter in different parts of the lounge. It is based on, among other things, lavender, bamboo, green tea and jasmine, and reflects Cathay Pacific's four pillars. The Pier First Class Lounge is open from 5:30am until the last departure of the day. Access is given to passengers travelling in first class with Cathay Pacific, Dragonair or another airline in the One World, as well as to members travelling on any of these airlines who have a One World Emerald card.
