On March 29th, there will be a merger of domestic and international traffic at Copenhagen Kastrup Airport, which will see the end of those long walks to switch between international and domestic flights. We summarise how it will look. Domestic traffic is today served from terminal 1, at the opposite end of the terminal complex from Terminal 3, which airlines such as SAS use for all its international flights. This means a substantial walk between the two. Beginning on March 29th, domestic and international traffic will be merged to make it easier for passengers with a transfer and also allow domestic passengers to use the much more extensive facilities of the current international part of terminals 2 and 3. The change is made possible by a new four-year agreement signed between the airport and airlines. How will it look practically: -SAS Domestic flights to and from Aalborg and Aarhus departing during peak morning and afternoon will park at the D pier, close to the SAS lounge, fast track, check-in/baggage claim and other connecting flights with SAS. -SAS Flights from Billund will park at the B-pier. -During Off-peak times in the day, SAS domestic flights will primarily use gates C2-C8 between the B and D Pier and passengers will be transported to the aircraft by bus. -Norwegian Flights to Aalborg will park at the A pier along with Norwegian's other flights. -Flights to Ronne (DAT), Karup (DAT) and Sønderborg (ALSIE Express) will have gates A7, A9 and A11 as standard parking. Also, the new route with ES-Air to Esbjerg will use the A Pier.
Fast track and lounge for SAS frequent travellers
For frequent travellers with SAS, there will be a change to several benefits. Check-in will be in Terminal 3, directly after you exit the trains and the metro, where you will be able to use self-service baggage drop for checked luggage. Travellers in SAS Plus or with EuroBonus Gold/Diamond will be able to use the fast track through security, followed by the SAS lounge. On arrival from a domestic destination, luggage will always arrive on band No. 5 in the arrivals hall. For those who have connections to and from other SAS flights, SAS departures within Europe and Scandinavia will be kept to piers B and D, while intercontinental flights and flights to destinations outside the Schengen go mainly from the C-pier. All of these will be significantly closer to domestic gates than before. SAS express satisfaction with the new solution. - We have had a good dialogue with the airport as to where it is most meaningful to park our flights. It is we who know our customers the best and why it was important for us that the airport be accommodating, which I think they are being as much as possible, said Lars W. Andersen, Director of Public Affairs and Infrastructure of SAS. The airport reserves the right to change gate allocation due to unforeseen schedule changes, such as bad weather, strikes and the like.
