Yesterday, Emirates announced it will be adding four new weekly flights between Dubai and Phuket starting on December 1.

Following passenger demand, the flights will connect most cities in the Americas and will improve connections to a number of destinations in Europe and the Middle East. Phuket island is a gateway to Southern Thailand. The announcement comes after a codeshare agreement was recently signed between Emirates and Bangkok Airways which saw 19 new routes and 14 new destinations added to Emirates’ network.

Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer

, said, “Since the launch in 2012, Phuket has been a solid success story. The fact that we are now adding a further four weekly flights highlights not only the desirability of the destination but also the demand for passengers wishing to travel with Emirates. These new flights have been well timed to not only maximise connections across our network but also allow for a morning arrival in Phuket, giving travellers even more time to enjoy the island and its surrounds.” From Dubai, flight EK396 will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 22.55, and arrive the following day in Phuket at 08.00. The return service, EK397, will depart Phuket on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 09.30 and arrive in Dubai at 1320 the same day. Emirates will operate the new weekly flights with a Boeing 777-300ER, offering eight seats in first class, 42 seats in business class and 310 economy class seats. Emirates operate 42 weekly flights to Bangkok and, currently, seven weekly flights to Phuket.
