Emirates has today announced that it will launch a second daily A380 service from Dubai to Los Angeles.
Commencing 1 July 2016, the flight will be operated by a three-class Airbus A380-800ULR, with 14 private First class suites, 76 Business class seats and 401 Economy seats. Flight EK217 will depart Dubai at 15.00 and arrive in Los Angeles at 20.00. In the opposite direction, flight EK218 will depart Los Angeles LAX at 22.30, arriving in Dubai at 01.30. The new service will compliment Emirates' current A380 service, flight EK215, which departs Dubai at 8:55, while the return departs LAX at 16:45. Flight time is approximately 16 hours. Emirates’ second daily service will serve a growing customer demand for travel between Dubai and western United States, as well connecting passengers to Emirates’ vast global network of onwards destinations, according to to the Gulf airline. “Our existing service provides USD $677 million in annual economic benefit to L.A. and the surrounding area, contributes over USD $270 million in annual spending by visitors, and helps to support nearly 6000 U.S jobs. So our additional service to LAX not only doubles our capacity to meet demand for our award winning service, but also increases our positive economic impact to the Los Angeles area,” said Hubert Frach, Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations, West. First and Business Class passengers will also be able to experience the added luxury of travelling to and from the airport “Hollywood style” via Emirates' complimentary Chauffeur-drive service, as well having access to Emirates’ exclusive lounges in both Dubai (DXB) and Los Angeles (LAX).
