Each autumn, about six million thirsty people make their way to Bavaria in Germany to experience the world-famous Oktoberfest.

The 18-day festival - the largest folk festival in the world - runs from 16th September to 3rd October and centres around the city of Munich. It sees revellers dress in traditional Bavarian lederhosen and take part in festivities such as funfairs, parades, and German folk music, fuelled by the nation’s favourite tipple: beer.

To honour the annual celebration, Emirates has introduced a special Bavarian-inspired food and beverage menu on German routes for the duration of this year's festivities.

The Dubai based airline - which flies to four destinations in Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf and Hamburg) - is offering its First Class and Business Class passengers a variety of Bavarian pastries, pretzels and sandwiches in the A380 onboard lounge. Traditional German fare is also available in the Emirates premium lounge in Munich.

Premium passengers will also have the opportunity to try original Oktoberfest wheat beer from the renowned Paulaner brewery - one of the only six breweries to serve at the event.

Those travelling in Economy will get to enjoy a typical German hot meal of roasted chicken, Spätzle and a tasty mushroom sauce.
