Emirates to resume flights to Baghdad
From September 17 this year, Emirates will resume passenger services to the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The Gulf airline will deploy a three-class Airbus A330-200 four-times weekly.
Operations were suspended in January by The General Civil Aviation Authority when a Flydubai passenger flight received small-arms fire as it landed in Baghdad.
Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at Emirates,
said, “After conducting an exhaustive safety and security review, we have decided to restart services between Dubai and Baghdad. Commercial air transport has been one of the cornerstones of economic development for Iraq and we want to continue to support the development of economic opportunities in Baghdad by increasing access to international markets and inward investment.” Flights will be on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
