Finnair Reveals New Nordic-Themed Business Class

Finnair is updating its Business Class with a stylish “Nordic” theme and new service concept from February 2018.

The upgrade will include new Marimekko design elements that celebrate the airline’s Nordic roots, as well as a new service concept that will give Finnair business class passengers a wider range of dining and wine options that will be available on-demand or at a preferred time.

Offering fliers the chance to customise their in-flight dining experience, the new service concept will see dedicated cabin crew personnel for business class passengers provide a more individual service, “with the aim of setting new standards for comfort and overall well-being onboard Finnair flights,” according to Piia Karhu, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Finnair.

Finnair’s new service concept also includes the introduction of a classic Finnish tradition “Kahvikutsut”, which is a

coffee serving

with seven different treats. Only available on long-haul flights departing Asia in the morning, Kahvikutsut will let passengers enjoy traditional Finnish treats like Carelian pies, cinnamon buns, coffee cake and traditional Finnish chocolates between the two meal services.

Finnair will also bring the spirit of the Nordics to the cabin interior of Finnair A350 aircraft with a fresh and modern aesthetic that is inspired by Nordic homes and landscapes. It will include new cabin textiles and amenities such as stylish seat covers, pillows, blankets and chinaware with prints from the iconic Finnish design house Marimekko.

The new business class service concept will commence as of February 7, 2018, on flights to Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai, with a gradual roll-out of the remaining long-haul destinations during the spring and summer. The new interior elements will be rolled out to Finnair’s Airbus A350 aircraft in phases during 2018.

What are your views on this welcome - albeit subtle - upgrade and new service concept?
