Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club will open in early 2017 in Miami Beach, confirms Four Seasons.

The Surf Club - a glamorous 1930s private club which has hosted guests such and Frank Sinatra and WInston Churchill - is undergoing a redesign which will include an “exclusive oasis” of 77 guest rooms under the Four Seasons banner.

Russell Pancoast's original clubhouse, now faithfully restored, is the centerpiece for the “modern masterpiece” by Richard Meier and architect Kobi Karp. With direct access to 1,000 feet of pristine Atlantic beachfront, Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club’s 77 rooms will include five beachfront Cabana Suites, as well as 31 Private Residence suites.

The property will also feature two restaurants and a lounge overlooking the beach and gardens; outdoor heated pools; a full-service spa with 8 treatment rooms, including 2 in oceanfront spa cabanas and a traditional hammam; fitness centre and water sports.

Surfside, Florida, in the North Beaches area of Miami Beach, has been a destination for celebrities, statesmen and high society ever since tire tycoon Harvey Firestone gave life to The Surf Club on New Year's Eve 1930. Firestone wanted "the most idyllic location for a private club dedicated to the sea, the sun and all things social." He found it here on this eight-acre site with unparalleled access to prime Atlantic beachfront.

“The Surf Club offers a unique opportunity to create an important addition to the built environment, one which affects a balance between the natural beauty of the expansive oceanfront site, and the desire for a new definition of luxury. Incorporating the historic structure; remaining sensitive to the gracious, low-rise context of Surfside, Florida; and further exploring the relationship between structure and sea has been a wonderful project for the firm. With the addition of Four Seasons, I feel confident that the homes and penthouses we have created will be enjoyed to their fullest,” commented Richard Meier, designer of the new hotel.

Four Seasons Hotel at The Surf Club is the fourth Four Seasons property in the Sunshine State.
