The best hotel in the world according to TripAdvisor, Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives, has been upgraded. The Private Reserve – the largest overwater villa in the world – has received an extensive renovation.
Located 500 metres from the resort and accessible only by boat, the spectacular villa takes privacy and luxury to another level entirely.
With 1,700 square metres, the luxurious three-bedroom hideaway offers serene privacy in the middle of a sparkling turquoise lagoon. A wood and glass design complement the breathtaking Indian Ocean views, which flood the villa with light through floor-to-ceiling windows. The renovations include a new 63 square metre fresh water swimming pool with a large sun-deck, shaded pavilions and jacuzzi, as well as a new en-suite bedroom in one of the two master suites
Steven Philips
, General Manager of Gili Lankanfushi, said: “The beautiful pool adds an extra dimension to the Private Reserve, a wonderful alternative for those who prefer fresh water to the sea – and it’s obviously unaffected by the tides. We also wanted to make the most of the deep channel right in front of the villa, so it was built without having to disturb any of the local ecosystem."
Other improvements include a new library and study, complete with an en-suite bathroom and large lounging beds. A shower room is also being added to the gym, along with fresh new furnishings throughout the villa. The new features compliment an already luxurious property that offers a private spa with sauna and steam room, a state-of-the-art cinema and a water slide. Guests also have the convenience of a personal chef to plan tailored meals using produce from the resort’s organic vegetable and herb gardens. Meals can be served in the open top-floor dining room or at cushioned round tables close to the ocean. The wine cellar and bar can also be stocked to individual tastes.
All the facilities of the main resort are just a short boat-ride away. For those who value true privacy, luxury and the space to enjoy it, there really is no place like the Gili Lankanfushi Private Reserve. The Private Reserve will re-open on 15th November.
