A new penthouse suite is set to open this month at the Hilton London Bankside, a hotel BusinessClass

reviewed last year

just after its opening in October.

Created in partnership with London-based architect and interior designer Dexter Moren Associates and interior design practice twenty2degrees, the Penthouse Suite is a “stylish finishing touch” to a hotel that reflects the fascinating history of Bankside and the urban character of the area. The one-bedroom Penthouse is filled with contemporary art and has views overlooking the Tate Modern and The Shard. It is “spacious, light and elegant,” with bespoke furnishings, one-of-a-kind art work and dark oak Parquet floors.

The suite houses a large living area complete with a sofa and chairs, floor-to-ceiling windows and a dark wooden desk. A kitchen and dining area offers SMEG small kitchen appliances, coffee machine, a generously stocked fridge and space for entertaining. A large black and white photograph by Alexander Khokhlov covers the interior wall of the suite, acting as a screen to cover the television whilst associating the hotel with the nearby Tate Modern.

The bedroom overlooks The Shard and is decorated with copper coloured soft furnishings and hanging decorative lights flanking the bed. An en-suite bathroom houses a standalone bath tub, his and hers sinks, separate lavatory and large shower area. The pièce de résistance of the Penthouse is the 30m2 private roof terrace which overlooks the Tate Modern and the hotel’s very own roof top Meadow. The terrace has plenty of outdoor furniture, perfect for hosting guests or relaxing with a book.

We enjoyed our stay at this unique Hilton property when we visited last year, with the service in particular making an impression. Then, we stayed in a King Executive Room, which was more than acceptable, but this new Penthouse looks set to provide the hotel with the ‘stylish finishing touch’ they were hoping for. We are looking forward to seeing it for ourselves soon.
