Lalit Suri to bring Indian luxury to London

Indian luxury hotel company Lalit Suri Hospitality Group has announced it will open a new 5-star hotel in London - its first property outside India.

In a press release, Lalit Suri, who currently have 11 properties, said the new London hotel will blend the best of Indian culture, hospitality and cuisine with the finest Victorian architecture.

The Lalit London, set to open in 2016, will be located in Queen Elizabeth Street, on the South Bank near Tower Bridge, in a Grade II- Listed property which was originally designed by Edward Mountford, the architect of the Old Bailey.

The building is currently being redeveloped and renovated by the EPR Architects, with Archer Humphryes taking care of the interior design. Once complete, the property will centre around the former Great Hall, which is being converted into The Lalit London’s pan Indian restaurant, Baluchi. This signature concept is already in place in many of the brand’s hotels.

There will also be a cocktail bar in the former Governors’ Room, with its panelled walls and elaborate plaster ceiling.

The hotel’s 70 guestrooms will all be different in design and layout, with the bedrooms on the top floor boasting 30-foot high ceilings. In addition, the Headmaster’s Room on the first floor will be transformed into a luxury suite.

The Lalit London will also house Rejuve – The Spa, a state-of-the-art gym and a spacious terrace for al fresco dining.

The hotel has been a long-held dream of Keshav Suri, executive director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, who explained how his family has a karmic connection with London and have wished to own a hotel in city for a long time.

The group also has upcoming hotels planned for Ahmedabad and Amritsar in India and Koh Samui in Thailand.
