In an attempt to remodel its business in the wake of a difficult period, Malaysia Airlines will install new fully-flat business class seats on its A330-300 in April next year.
The new seats will be introduced on board Malaysia Airlines’ entire A330-300 fleet of 15 aircraft by September, 2016.
New business class on A330-300 With a seat pitch of 43 inches, a width of 20.6 inches and length of 76 inches (fully-flat), the new seats will replace the current A330's angled flat beds, fulfilling a pledge made earlier this year by the OneWorld airline.
New business class on A330-300 The upgraded seats will also offer increased working space, meaning Malaysia Airlines’ A330-300 aircraft will house 27 business class seats, compared to the current 36, along with 263 economy class seats. The business class cabin will be configured in an alternating 1-2-1 and 1-2-2 configuration, with 90% of seats having direct access to the aisle. Malaysia Airlines’ current A330 business class product is arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration.
New business class on A330-300 Each seat will also come equipped with a 16-inch touchscreen in-flight entertainment system from Panasonic, extra storage space, a power socket, USB port and reading light. “This product will make us more competitive against other full-service carriers and is part of the airline’s push to be more customer centric, offering new, personalised and innovative products,” said group chief executive officer Christoph Mueller.
