Beginning at the end of March next year, SAS will operate a daily service between Copenhagen and Boston. In the process, SAS will become the first airline to fly direct between Boston and Scandinavia.
The aircraft that will be deployed on the route is known as a ‘Boeing Business Jet’ - a converted 86-seat Boeing 737-700 operated by PrivatAir. The new route is primarily targeted at business/frequent travellers and comes following increased demand from the business community to have a direct route between Boston and Copenhagen. There are, for example, a number of companies in the high-tech, finance, medicine and biotechnology industries, as well as various educational institutions, that will benefit from the new service. As there are so many connections between Swedish and Norwegian airports and Kastrup, SAS expect to attract a lot of travellers from throughout Scandinavia. The aircraft is the same as was previously deployed on the so-called "oil route" between Stavanger and Houston, however, some business class seats have been replaced with economy seats. The new service between Copenhagen to Boston will offer 20 seats in business class and 66 seats in Economy. The new route, which will operate throughout the year, will provide about 500 departures between Boston and Copenhagen next year. Tickets go on sale on October 9. The premiere departure from Kastrup is March 29, 2016. From Copenhagen: SK927 will depart daily at 12:50 with arrival in Boston at 15:20. From Boston: SK928 will depart daily at 17:30 arriving at 07:00 the next day in Copenhagen.
