Yesterday saw the opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru, the brand’s first hotel in the southern Indian city.
The 397-room, five-star property is planned to be a “destination for business and pleasure, offering a dynamic array of restaurants, bars and meeting spaces.” The 19-storey hotel is located between the central business district and the residential suburbs of Bengaluru, a 30 minute drive from the international airport, and boasts views of the city and Bangalore Palace. The hotel’s function rooms are spread over two levels. The Grand Ballroom is on the first level and covers 739 square metres. It is one of the largest meeting spaces in the city and holds up to 900 guests. It is supported by five additional function rooms on level two.

general manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru, said: “Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru is a wonderful addition to our group’s portfolio in India and will certainly add to the State of Karnataka’s exciting and eclectic tourism scene.” The hotel has eight dining venues, including ‘Shang Palace’, Shangri-La’s signature Chinese restaurant, which offers Cantonese dim sum, barbeque specialities, the flavours of Sichuan, Beijing and north-east China, as well as regional vegetarian dishes. For leisure-oriented guests, there is an entire dedicated floor complete with spa, health club, outdoor and kid’s swimming pools, 24-hour gym, sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. The hotel also offers weekly yoga sessions and the ‘Run Well programme’ – a running tour of nearby Bangalore Palace or Cubbon Park. Bengaluru is known as the hub of India’s technological developments and is also well known for its historical sites.
