This week saw the introduction of Singapore Airlines' premium economy on board part of its fleet. The maiden flight took off yesterday from Singapore and landed in Sydney this morning. Operations to London, Hong Kong and Manchester will start in the autumn. A number of other destinations in Europe and Asia are also expected to be introduced with premium economy following installation on relevant aircraft.
Premium Economy will initially be available on some Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A380s, and later the A350 when it is delivered from Airbus. Legroom in premium economy is 38 inches and will offer eight seats across in a 2-4-2 configuration. It will also feature a screen of 13.3 inches, power sockets, USB ports, reading lamp, cocktail table, footrest and multiple storage options. What otherwise distinguishes Singapore Airlines’ premium economy from premium economy on some other airlines is inclusive champagne and the opportunity to pre-order food through ‘Book The Cook’.
