The Goring awarded first Michelin star

The Goring is the only five star luxury hotel in London that is owned and run by the family that built it.

, the fourth Goring to run the hotel, said: “We’re delighted and honoured to be recognised by Michelin for what we are trying to achieve. It’s only taken 105 years. Mikko Jappinen and his front of house team are, in my view the best in London. They deliver consistently excellent, engaging service to our guests, often with a dash of humour and always with discretion. They are fabulous human beings, as is Olivier Clausse and his expert sommelier team.” He goes on to say that the restaurant's offerings are “pretty and vibrant without being poncey”.

, is situated in the heart of Belgravia, yards away from Buckingham Palace, and has attracted the likes of Lady Churchill and the Queen Mother over its illustrious 105-year history. The award-winning hotel offers plenty of understated luxury. The hotel has recently undergone a large renovation and was reopened in March by the Duchess of Cambridge, who stayed at the hotel the night before her marriage to Prince William.
