Three New Business Class Seats Set To Take Off This Year

2017 saw the introduction of a number of new business class seats, including Qatar Airways revolutionary new Qsuite. And the

battle of Business Class

is hotting up even more this year.

For an idea of what new business class products we can look forward to in 2018, here are three new seats that are set to be unveiled and take to the skies in the coming months.

Singapore Airlines regional business class

This new business class offering is expected to launch in the first half of the year on the airline’s new Boeing 787-10 fleet and some Airbus A350s that fly regionally. Featuring a pod-like design, the new seats are from Airbus-owned cabin interior specialists Stelia Aerospace.

The cabin will be configured in a staggered 1-2-1 layout, with each seat offering direct aisle access and dovetailing into the seat behind. The seats will fold out into lie-flat beds, expected to be around 77 inches (195cm), although it may be slightly longer in actuality.

Virgin Australia transcontinental Boeing 737 business class

The airline is keeping quiet on its new Boeing 737 business class product, but what we do know is that Virgin Australia CEO John Borghetti has intriguingly described it as a “quantum leap in domestic business class." Lie-flat seat, maybe? It will probably be revealed in the second half of the year and will fly on its fleet of Boeing 737 jets, which are set to replace the larger twin-aisle A330s on east-west routes.

British Airways Club World business class

2018 will see the debut of British Airways’ new Club World business class product on new Airbus A350s. Technically, this product won’t fly until 2019, but we can expect it to be unveiled towards the end of this year - 12 years after it launched its current Club World business class seat.

While we don’t know much about the new seat, there are reports that the airline is going for an off-the-shelf product from premier seat-maker Zodiac Aerospace.
