From the end of March, United Airlines will introduce Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on its two daily flights to Sydney from LA and San Francisco. With the B787-9 already operating the airline’s service between LA and Melbourne, Australia will be the airline’s first “all-Dreamliner” market.
The upgrades will take place on 27 and 28 March, respectively. Alison Espley, United Airlines’ Managing Director of Sales for Asia, said: “Passengers will appreciate the feeling of space in the cabin, the fact that wherever you’re sitting you can see out of the window, and the pressurisation that reduces and in some instance, people say, completely removes that feeling of jetlag.” The Star Alliance member is also launching a new route to New Zealand this year, again set to be operated by the B787-8. From 3rd July, a Dreamliner will fly three-times weekly between San Francisco and Aukland. United’s Dreamliners offer three classes on board – business, premium economy and economy. The B787-8 has 219 seats while the B787-9 has 252 seats.
