Westin’s new app for staying fit while travelling

In response to the growing global demand for wellness while travelling, Westin, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, has partnered with FitStar by Fitbit to develop a series of fitness programs that offer personalised, in-room workouts. The app has exercise programs with workouts from fitness authorities, as well as customised workouts that adapt to a person’s fitness level. Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader at Westin, said: “Since Westin established its well-being position five years ago, we have seen the focus on wellness accelerating with new technology and the growing popularity of wearables, like those from Fitbit. This partnership with FitStar by Fitbit offers our guests another meaningful way to maintain their exercise routines when and where it works for them.” The app features a “Stay Fit with Westin” exercise session - designed by Westin's National Running Concierge Chris Heuisler to help relieve common travellers’ ailments - as well as bodyweight routines that do not require any equipment, making the programs ideal for frequent travellers. “FitStar apps are ideal travel companions, offering fast, effective workouts that can be done anytime, anywhere,” said Mike Maser, Co-Founder of FitStar by Fitbit. As part of Westin’s global Well-Being Movement in recent years, Westin employs nearly 200 Running Concierges, who host group runs for guests on scenic routes in cities, along beachfronts and through rural landscapes. Westin also provides a Gear Lending program in partnership with New Balance, allowing guests to borrow New Balance shoes and clothing during their stay. The FitStar Personal Trainer app is now available at many of the brand’s 200 hotels around the world. Guests can get a free 30-day trial until 30th June.
