Sitting atop the Spanish Steps in Rome, overlooking the historic city, the iconic Hotel Hassler Roma is this year celebrating its 125th anniversary. To mark the momentous occasion, the hotel has undergone a quick refresh and style update.
Owned and run by Roberto E. Wirth, fifth generation of a famous Swiss hotelier dynasty, the five star Hassler is one of Rome’s best luxury lodgings, consistently popular with high-profile and discerning travellers since 1893. Notable guests have included Charlie Chaplin, George Clooney and Audrey Hepburn.
Now, 125 years after its conception, the Hassler is keeping up with the high expectations of its guests by renovating a number of its public spaces, rooms and suites. The effort to preserve the hotel’s times elegance has also seen the number of rooms decreased while suites have been added
After closing for just three weeks at the start of the year, the Hassler reopened on January 29, unveiling updates overseen by Roberto Wirth.
The renovations include some major changes to the main entrance including a new fanlight allowing natural light to flood into the main hall, as well as brand-new front doors featuring modernized technology.
The lobby has new flooring made of Botticino marble, and new upholstery has been added to the walls. The concierge and reception desks have received a new look, now finished in brown with gold foil decorations.
The San Pietro Presidential Suite has been redesigned to give the space an updated look while retaining the suite’s original style, and the Salone Eva and Sala Vietri have also been refreshed with new mirrors, lighting and upholstery.
The hotel’s wonderful Michelin-starred panoramic restaurant, Imàgo, as well as the Palm Court restaurant and the Hassler Bar, remain impeccably the same.
