British Airways adds Lapland to its Winter schedule

British Airways is spreading holiday cheer with new flights to Lapland, Santa Claus's famed home region, just in time for winter.

Starting December 3rd, British Airways will begin twice-weekly flights from London Gatwick to Ivalo, Finland, the most northerly airport in the country. Nestled along the Ivalo River in the Arctic Circle, Ivalo is a charming village renowned for its festive allure during the winter season. It serves as a key entry point to Saariselkä, a popular resort destination famous for its winter sports, including skiing, snowmobiling, tobogganing, and snowshoeing.

For those eager to meet Santa Claus in person, the Northern Lights Village in Saariselkä offers the perfect setting. Additionally, Ivalo’s remote Arctic location makes it an excellent spot to witness the breathtaking Aurora Borealis.

Ivalo is the latest addition to British Airways' winter routes, following the recent introduction of flights to Tromsø, Norway, from London Heathrow, starting in December.

Return tickets are available starting at £345, with flights running twice a week until 14th February, 2025.
