Between now and 30th November, passengers passing through the Schengen area of Helsinki Airport will be able to view an exhibition on Finnair’s flight attendant uniforms from over the past 100 years.
The national carrier of Finland is celebrating its centenary this year and the exhibition gives passengers a never-seen-before view of Finnair’s vintage uniforms from the past 100 years, as the airline reflects on its history and heritage.
Uniforms over the years have typically represented the latest trends in Finnish design. In the 1970s, the outfits of Finn Hostesses, who served First Class passengers on long-haul flights, were still a separate entity. A design contest was held annually, and famous Finnish designers competed to dress the Finn Hostesses. Finn Hostesses were thus models for the Finnish clothing industry.
Passengers have the chance to win two return economy flights to a European destination of choice, by voting for their favourite Finnair classic uniform using a provided QR code.
The exhibition sits at Gate 29 at the Schengen part of Helsinki airport.
